Kermit Cromwell FreelsJuly 16, 1932 ~ July 18, 2017 (age 85)
Kermit Cromwell Freels, 85, of New Whiteland, went home to be with God, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, in Fairland. He was born on July 16, 1932, in St. Charles, Virginia, to his parents, Clarence E. and Ethel Faye (Rosenbalm) Freels. He married Dolores Ann Ragsdale on June 28, 1952, in Indianapolis. They just celebrated their 65th anniversary, surrounded by their family.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was honored recently, by the military for his service, with plaque and special veteran's pin. His daughters honored him with a commerative brick that will be placed at Camp Atterbury, in his honor. Kermit was employed for RCA, for 37 ½ years as a mechanic. He enjoyed playing poker and wood working. He was member of the Jubilee Lodge 746 F&AM, where he was a past Master. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 276 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #1408. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kermit is survived by his wife Dolores Freels of New Whiteland; four daughters, Vicky Lynn (Curtis) Dobbins of Beech Grove, Deborah Ann (Russell) Crague of Whiteland, Julie Diane (James) Adkins of Fairland, and Kristina Elaine (Donald Mann) Miller of Port Lucie, Florida; a sister, Shirley King of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, Brooke, Stephen, Tracy, Kelly, Rusty, Greg, Jeff, Christopher, Nikki, Leslie, Erika,; 21 great grandchildren, Ashlie, Lennon, Zane, George, Kamryn, Noah, Abigail, Allison, Patrick, Ann Marie, Kate, Isabelle, Gavin, Caden, Phillip, Garrett, Hunter, Madelyn, Brian, Autumn, and Meadow; and two great-great grandchildren Liam and Adaline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ethel Freels; four brothers, James, Homer, Glen, and Willard Freels; and two sisters, Helen Larkin and Doris Kruger.
Rev. Seth Amerine will be conducting a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. Hwy. 31. The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service, at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 12:45 p.m. before service on Thursday.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood.
