Sonja L. (May) Perry, 79, of Greenwood, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017. She was born, December 28, 1937, in Indianapolis, to her parents, Marion May and Florence (Pruitt) Pardue. Sonja was raised by her loving step-father and mother, Sterling and Florence Pardue. 

She was a homemaker. Sonja enjoyed traveling and attending family gatherings. She liked gospel music and listening to different singing groups. Sonja loved her church, Berean Baptist Church and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sonja is survived by her children, Frank (Melissa) Perry of Jacksonville, Florida, Bobbie Cassity, Paul Perry, and John Perry, all of Indianapolis, and Nina (Mark) Hawk of New Whiteland; four sisters, Helen (Donny) Hannie and Lauren (William) Hicks, both of Bedford, Sandy Swindel of Tennessee, and Tonya Pardue of Kentucky, one brother, Tony Pardue of Kentucky, ten grandchildren, twelve grea-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Perry, her parents, Marion May and Florence (Pruitt) Pardue, and step-father, Sterling Pardue. 

The family will be hosting a visitation from 5p.m. - 7p.m., with the funeral service immediately following, on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Berean Baptist Church, 1191 W. County Line Rd., Greenwood. Burial will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Madison, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home.
