Alma Taylor, 88, of Whiteland, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018. She was born to Leander Tungate and Etta Tungate-Spalding in Lebanon, KY, on January 28, 1930.
Alma worked for Franklin College in the cafeteria for 10 years. She retired in 2002. Alma was a member of the Senior Center of Franklin for 28 years. She loved to go bowling, being in leagues throughout her life. Alma enjoyed playing card games. Alma spent her summers in the garden, loving to can. She loved spending time with her family.
Alma is survived by her three children, Valerie Taylor of Whiteland, Rick (Paula) Taylor of Edinburgh, and Brad Taylor of Whiteland; four sisters, Virginia Bunch of Bardstown, KY, Linda Carney of Bardstown, KY, Dorcus St. Clair of Bardstown, KY, and Bonnie Reiter of Bardstown, KY; three brothers, Leander Tungate, Jr. of Jefferson Town, KY, William (Dorothy) Tungate of Lebanon, KY, and Allen Tungate of Columbia, KY; five grandchildren, Renee Whisler, Ian Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Christopher Taylor, and Stephanie Swhear; and five great-grandchildren, Winston Taylor, Eleanor Taylor, Joel Taylor, Louise Taylor, and Elise Taylor.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Taylor; her parents, Leander and Etta Tungate; a brother, Mark Tungate; and two sisters, Joyce Burchett, and Mary Hill.
A memorial service will be April 22nd at 4p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2508 N. Morton St., Franklin, 46131. Arrangements entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
