Bettye Carol (Perry) Hicks went to be with our Lord on January 7th, 2020. She perished in her Franklin home where she had lived since 1967.
She was born to Gilbert and Sadie (Hume) Perry in their home in Birdie, KY on March 23, 1936. Bettye attended Marlowe Grade School and graduated from Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg KY. She was baptized in a creek on Sept. 1st, 1946 to become a member of Corinth Christian Church in Birdie. She met David M. Hicks at Corinth where his brother was preaching at that time, and they were wed there on June 1, 1954.
Bettye worked as a mother and homemaker. She was employed as a laboratory secretary at Johnson Memorial Hospital for several years and later for Dr. McCallum’s office from where she eventually retired.
She was a longtime member of Union Christian Church in Franklin.
Her hobbies and joys included: family time, card games, dining out, UK basketball, traveling, marketing, doll collecting, antiques and Dept. 56 villages. Most of all she loved fishing, especially at Kentucky Lake with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, her parents, her brothers, Vernon and Butch Perry and a granddaughter, Sarah Hicks.
Bettye is survived by her four children: Philip W. (Karen) Hicks of Franklin, Sharon S. (Richard) Giger, of Princes Lakes, Larry D. (Carol) Hicks of Princes Lake, Lori B. (Marty) Sewell, of Franklin, sister, Mary Ann (Perry) Carlton, of Lawrenceburg, KY and 3 generations of grandchildren.
All are welcome to join us at Union Christian Church, 1331 E 300 S, Franklin, IN 46131 for a visitation with her family on January 11, 2020 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow the visitation.
