Burton Duane Bennett, 77, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019. He was born to Tarquin and Kathleen (Prust) Bennett on November 9, 1941 in Terre Haute.
Burton married Doris (Hamblin) Bennett on August 20, 1977, she survives. After completing his training at the police academy, Burton served as a police officer for 12 years for Marshall Police Department in Marshall, Illinois retiring in 1989. Burton also worked as a security offer and private investigator. He was a Marion County special deputy for many years.
Along with his wife, Burton is survived by his sister, Norma Elsey of Lebanon, his three nieces, Diana (Elsey) and Randy Parr of Lebanon, Kathy (Elsey) and Bob Donaldson of Zionsville, and Janice (Elsey) Stazzinski of Phoenix, Arizona, five great- nephews, three great-great nephews and one great-great niece.
Burton was preceded in death by his parents, Tarquin and Kathleen (Prust) Bennett and his sister Nora Perkins.
A memorial service will be Friday, May 17 th at 7 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Eastview Dr., Franklin, IN 46131. A visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until time of service.
