Cornita (Chesher) Pickett, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018. She was born to James and Vada (Decker) Chesher in Oliver Springs, Tennessee on April 26, 1927.
Cornita spent her life as a homemaker. She loved going to garage sales to see what she could find. Cornita loved spending time in her flower gardens and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Cornita is survived by her four children, Brenda Mendenhall of Franklin, Georgetta (Jim) McLinn of Indianapolis, Jerry (Julie) Pickett of Trafalgar, and Dalena Pickett of Indianapolis; two sisters, Frances Price of Clinton, Tennessee, Betty Brown of Indianapolis; and a brother, U.T. Cheser of Tallahassee, Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Cornita was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Pickett; her parents, James and Vada Chesher; a son; two daughters; and brothers, and sisters.
A memorial service will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. Hwy 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. Family and friends may visit from 5 p.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
