David Snelling, 67, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of New Whiteland, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018. David was born to Lindbergh and Norma Snelling in Jeffersonville, IN on May 8, 1951.
David attended Our Lady of Greenwood Elementary schools while growing up. He graduated from Whiteland High School. David worked for Allison Transmission for many years until retirement. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2153 in Port Charlotte. David loved woodworking and working on vehicles. He was the all around “Mr. Fix It.” He enjoyed riding motorcycles. David adored his family and two beagles Gracie and Pepper.
David is survived by his wife, Sharon Snelling of Port Charlotte; his five children, Bobbie (Brad) Redden of Franklin, Davell Cooper of Bargersville, David (Yvonne) Carter of Greencastle, Brian (Stephanie) Carter of North Carolina, and Sherry (Ray) Clements of New Whiteland; two sisters, Marjorie (Roger) Kimble of New Whiteland, and Julia Webb of Franklin; two brothers, Mike (Margie) Snelling of Washington, and Rex (Yvette) Webb of Greenwood; 9 grandchildren, Aron and Kaylynn Taylor, J.R. and Brenna Redden, Henry and Jacob Carter, and Sydney and Jackson Clements, and one great-grandchild due in August who is going to be named David James after his great-grandfather.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Lindbergh and Norma Snelling, and a grandchild, Carter Clements.

A visitation will be Friday, June 15 from 10-11 a.m. with a service immediately following at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. HWY 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
