Frances Ann (Short) Fiddler, Fran or Frannie to friends and family, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 11, 2019.
Fran was born to Ralph H. Short and Johnye Mae (McGlocklin) Short on December 29, 1935. She grew up in Franklin. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1954. She worked at the Telephone Company in Franklin during high school. She was secretary to the Adjutant General in Indianapolis after high school. After marrying Norman R. Fiddler on June 15, 1963, she was a full-time homemaker and mother. She later retired from Greenwood Village South to care for her ailing sister.
Fran lived in South Carolina from 1971-1978. She worked at the Christian School her children attended as a lunch lady, study hall teacher, and librarian. She and her husband accepted the call of the Lord to minister at Calhoun Baptist Church in St. Matthews, South Carolina for several years.
Fran returned home to Franklin in 1978. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She had served as a “pillar” in the church.
Fran loved her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed lunches with her childhood friends.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norman R. Fiddler of Franklin, her children: Teri Pressley (Bill) of West Columbia, SC, Eric Fiddler of Franklin, Beth Harris (Jason) of Morgantown, and Kyle Fiddler (Stacey) of Whiteland. Grandchildren: B.J. Pressley of St. Matthews, SC, Robert Pressley (Katie) of Gaston, SC, Rachel Pressley-Gietz (John) of Lexington, SC, Victoria Fiddler of Boca Raton, Fla., Davis Fiddler of Franklin, Cole and Ali Harris of Morgantown, and Jake, Justin and Jessee Fiddler of Whiteland. Great-grandkids: Jesse Pressley of West Columbia, Sc, Braelynn Stabler of Lexington, SC, and Grayson Pressley of Gaston, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Her brother Paul Short, her sister Alyse Jean (Short) Koons. Daughter, Kimberly Lynn Kelly; nephews, Michael Short and John Costantino.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 14th from 10-12p.m. with services immediately following at Jessen Funeral Home, 197 E. Jefferson St., Franklin. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
