J. E. “Ernie” Mangold, 83, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018. He was born to the late Ernest and Mazo Mangold.
Ernie served in the United States Airforce for four years. He was a life time member of the VFW Post 6978, American Legion and the NRA. He was a member of the Jubilee Masonic Lodge in Whiteland and a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Ernie was born and raised in Huntingburg, Indiana and a graduate from Indiana University. He enjoyed politics and spent his life keeping current with the day to day happenings. His keen intellect made for some very interesting stories.
Ernie is survived by his three children: Ernest E. (Kris) Mangold, Teresa (Matt) Martin, and Tina (Gary) Outcalt; Six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one brother Bob (Peggy) Mangold. He wass preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mangold, both parents, a sister Nelda Daleure, and three brothers, Walter “Bud”, Jack, and Raymond Mangold.
A visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
