James Norris Schatz, 66, of Greenwood, formerly of Elyria, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019. He was born to Norris Schatz and Margaret (France) (Schatz) Brown on October 21, 1952 in Fort Hood, Texas.
James was a veteran of the United States Army. He was married to Sandra (Talbot) Schatz for 46 years. James coached baseball for many years. He also was an umpire. James was the president of the St. John Lutheran Church congregation in Elyria, Ohio.
James is survived by his wife, Sandra Schatz of Greenwood; his son, James (Hilarie) Schatz of Whiteland; his sisters, Linda (William) Sears of Chattanooga, TN, Laurie (Kevin) Baker of Elyria, OH, and Jackie McClintock of Bartlesville, OK; his brothers, Jerold (Diane) Schatz of Grafton, OH, Kevin (Mike) Brown of Concord, NC; his brother-in-law, Nelson Talbot; his grandchildren, Carl and John Schatz; his uncle, Irvin Schatz; eight nieces and nephews; and several great- nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Norris Schatz and Margaret (France) (Schatz) Brown; his step-father, Richard Brown; his nephew, Eddie; and his great-niece Grace.
A visitation will be Monday, January 28th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service immediately following at Jessen Funeral Home, 729 N. U.S. Hwy 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. Burial will be at Rocklane Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
