John W. McCoy Jr., 78, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was born to John W. McCoy Sr. and Mary (Alton) McCoy on June 3, 1940 in West Newton, PA.
John married his lifetime sweetheart, Janet (Kinzey) McCoy on July 9, 1957. John worked for Ford Motor Company for 38 years as a job setter, retiring in 1999. John was a member of the UAW Local 1111. He was also a school bus driver for Clark Pleasant Schools for 13 years. John loved spending time with his family. He coached several youth sport leagues, some of which his children were team members of. He was a member of the Good Sam Club, loving to travel with his wife in their RV. Over the years they traveled to many places. A few of the places they traveled to were: Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Florida, Michigan, and the latest being New York. He was a member of the Civil Defense.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet McCoy of Greenwood; four children, Keith (Debi) McCoy of Indianapolis, Mark (Beth) McCoy of Franklin, Mike McCoy of Columbus, and Brian McCoy of Columbus; a sister, MaryLou (Bob) Colbert of Beech Grove; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Kelly, Daniel, Chad, Jonathan, Steve, Ashley, and Brandy; and many great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John W. McCoy Sr. and Mary (Alton) McCoy; and a son, John W. McCoy III.
A visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home, 729 N. U.S. Hwy 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. A service will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. until time of service. Service will be conducted by Pastor Burt Brock. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Arrangements entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
