Karen E. (Garrison) Bassett, 67, of Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born on February 18, 1950 in New Albany, Indiana.

She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Karen was a member of Stones Crossing Church, in Greenwood, which she loved. She was an active member of the Tri Chi Alpha Chapter, and enjoyed visiting Brown County. Karen also enjoyed cooking, spending time with her best friend, Sharon Shinneman-Gleave and doting over her pet, Persimmon.

Karen is survived by children, Rex Allen Bassett, Julie Ann Yeager, Carrie Lynn Syczylo, Jennifer Jo Chastain, and Jody Leigh Branum; her siblings, Teresa Kay Kleinschmidt, Donna Lynn Boyd, Paula Jean Pridemore, and James Allen White; twelve grandchildren, Nicole Elaine Bassett, Jerry Allen Bassett, Damon Christopher Bassett, Blake Donald Branum, Morgan Janine Chastaine, Kristiana Diane Frazee, Mikayle Joy Fidler, Sarah Bailee Chastain, Carlie Jeannine Syczylo, Roy Liam Yeager, Elizabeth Faye Chastain, and Hyatt Conlyn Yeager; and four great-grandchildren, Lukas Allen Bassett, Brady Robert Bassett, “Lily” Lilian Sue Bassett, and Matthew Collin Bassett.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Leon and Beatrice Joy (Doan) White, her grandparents, Hyatt and Mildred Doan, and an uncle, Jerry Doan.

The family will be hosting a visitation from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m., Thursday, September 14th at Stones Crossing Church, 7000 W. Stones Crossing Rd., Greenwood. Rev. Scott Luck will be conducting a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
