Leah Rae German, 83, of Whiteland, passed away peacefully at home in the late evening of November 10, 2019, surrounded by family.
Leah was born in Indianapolis to Noble and Lucille Baysinger. Leah was an only child, and spent her childhood playing with cousins. She attended Washington High School. Leah started a family at a young age, and moved to Whiteland shortly after in 1962. She worked in the healthcare field for many years; as an ER technician, home health aide, and caregiver.
Leah was incredibly active up until her death. She loved bluegrass music, and traveled annually to the Covered Bridge and Bean Blossom festivals. She enjoyed spending time with family, regularly meeting up with her cousins and hosting dinner. Leah had a large group of friends from various areas of her life, including a special "Birthday Girls" Group. She was also a member of the Johnson County Garden Club. Leah was passionate about animals, and owned all different types during her life. Above all, Leah loved cats. There was always sure to be a cat near her whenever she was home.
Leah is preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Lucile, and children: Shannon Stovall Hill, Darrell Stovall, Donna Meadows Brubeck, and Robert Meadows. She is also preceded by her close friend, Judith Meadows.
She is survived by her daughter, Teri German, of Whiteland, and granddaughter, Jessica Stott (Michael) of Cohoes, New York. She is also survived by her best friends, Leota Lange of Franklin, and Debbie Vaughn of Edinburgh.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the Jessen Funeral Home.
