Melvin Babbs, 97, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was born to Bruce and Lola Babbs on August 28, 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved spending time cooking. He was the owner and head chef at Babbs Restaurant. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. Melvin was a NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Jimmie Johnson. Melvin loved animals, especially cats. He also had a hobby of collecting rocks.
Melvin is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Keith) Bolin; sister, Deolres Young; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one great-great grandchildren.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Babbs who passed in 2011; his parents, Bruce and Lola Babbs; seven siblings, and two sons, Melvin L. and Michael L. Babbs.
A visitation will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service immediately following at Jessen Funeral Home, 729 N. U.S. Hwy 31, Whiteland, IN 46184.
