Richard Paul Gulley, 86, of Franklin, passed into his next life with Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 23, 2018. He was born to Alva and Mary (Duckworth) Gulley on June 30, 1932 in Winchester, Indiana.
Richard graduated from Connersville High School. He worked for Allison Transmission for 40 years as a machinist, retiring in 1991. Richard married Julia (Stone) Gulley on April 27, 1990. Richard was a Godly man who spent a good amount of his time serving his church in various ways. He and his wife, Julia enjoyed retirement, traveling and gardening. He was a very kind man who enjoyed people and always treated them as friends.
Richard is survived by his wife of 28 years, Julia (Stone) Gulley of Franklin; his four children, Donald G. Gulley of Martinsville, Michael (Kathy) Gulley of Brownsburg, Michael Hensley of Franklin, former daughter-in-law Mari Anne Hensley, and Dana (Scott) Fields of Greenwood; a brother, Gerald (Sandy) Gulley of New Madison, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann and Nancy Gulley both of Connersville; eight grandchildren, Dustin G. Gulley, Chad (Alyssa) Kelker, Matt Fields, Kelcey (Nick) Scheidler, Shelby (Josh Bolinger) Fields, Alexis (Zach Scott) Hensley, and Christopher and Matthew Hensley; two great-grandchildren, Malaki and Seth Kelker; and two great-great grandchildren on the way.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Gulley; his parents, Alva and Mary (Duckworth) Gulley; his brothers, Robert and Shelby Gulley; and a grandson, Kyle Gulley.
A visitation will be Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Emmanuel Church of Greenwood, 1640 Stones Crossing Rd W., Greenwood, IN 46143. A funeral service will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the church. Reverend Marion Glover will be conducting the services. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. Arrangements entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel.
