Richard (Dick) Allen Wood, 84, of Whiteland, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Otterbein Senior Life Community in Franklin, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born on August 7, 1933 in Bargersville, Indiana, to Marvin and Agnes (Billingsley) Wood. He married Jeanie (Waggener) Wood on June 4, 1960, in Whiteland, Indiana.
Dick was a 1951 graduate of Whiteland Community High School and a 1970 graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Central Indiana Construction Company for several years before retirement. Prior to that he was Operations Auditor at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis and Controller at Decatur County Hospital in Greensburg, Indiana.
Dick was a Past Master of Jubilee Masonic Lodge in Whiteland, Indiana. He founded the first chapter of Demolay there. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Valley of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and daughter, Dana Wood Chaney of Chicago. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Jeanie Wood, daughters Darci Underwood (Mike) of Vallonia, Indiana, Devon Bing (Roger) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Deanne Wood of Preston, Maryland, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date with Sam Harrington, retired pastor of The Neighborhood Church of God, Nineveh, Indiana. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland, Indiana.
