Alfred “Al” Eugene Wininger, 89, of New Whiteland, Indiana, passed away on May 9, 2022, at Greenwood Village South after a brief illness.
He was born January 3, 1933, in Loogootee, Indiana. Both there and in Paoli, he grew up in a large family while making many memories.
Al served in the United States Air Force in the 809th Air Police Squadron from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War, stationed primarily in the United Kingdom. Upon returning from service, Al met and married the love of his life, Judy Milligan of Paoli on January 30, 1955.
Al and Judy then made their home in New Whiteland, Indiana, where Al served as a deputy and later as a sales associate at Sears and Roebuck for 30 plus years. He enjoyed spending time woodworking in “Pop’s Garage”, gardening, and being with his wife and children.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents, Charles Edward and Anna Louise (Frisz) Wininger; brothers, Glenn, Clyde, and Leo Wininger; sisters, Mary and infant Imogene Wininger.
He is survived by his three children, Shannon Lane (Robert) of Indianapolis, Julie White (Jim) of Greenwood, and Jason Wininger (Alyson) of Indianapolis, and his grandchild, Hanna White of Florida. Siblings include Joe, Alta, LaRue, and Ruthie.
Public visitation on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 10:30am to 12:00pm at Jessen & Keller Funeral Homes ~ Whiteland Chapel followed by a private graveside service. Burial to follow at Stampers Creek Cemetery in Paoli, Indiana.
