Damon E. Monschein, 91, of Greenwood, passed away, June 30, 2020, in Indianapolis.
Damon was born May 13, 1929, in Indianapolis to the late Leland Monschein and Helen (Cromwell) Monschein.
Damon was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp who bravely served our country during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of Greenwood VFW Post #5864, American Legion Post #1919; and a member of the Marine Corp League and 7th District Sergeant at Arms with the Greenwood Honor Guard where he proudly served as bugler.
Damon enjoyed dancing, watching The Price Is Right and Let's Make A Deal. He was a sports enthusiast and loved watching many games on television, including the Indy 500.
Damon is survived by his children; Danny Joe (Cathy) Monschein, Shirley (Tom) Davis, Don (Mary) Lawrence, Damon Monschein, Carl (Norma) Lawrence, Burke Lawrence, and Jennifer (Kurt) Hussellman; his brother, Fred Monschein; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cleta Ilene Monschein; his brother, Robert Monschein; two children, Joni Porter and Steve Lawrence.
Damon will be laid to rest at the Indiana Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
A Celebration of Damon's Life will be held from 2pm to 6pm, July 18, 2020, at the Greenwood VFW, 1842 Veterans Way, Greenwood, IN 46143.
