Obituary

Debra Christine Walton passed away on February 15, 2021, at age 65. Christy was a loving wife and mother of three. She was also a loyal daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Christy was born in June of 1955, to Thomas and Cecelia (Powell) Hostrup. She grew up on Old Smith Valley Road and graduated from Center Grove High School in 1973. She attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and later earned her LPN certification from Indiana Central College.

In 1978, she married Mark Ree Walton in the Washington D.C. Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her faith was a guiding principle in her life, and it is a comfort to know that she is reunited with her Lord and Savior.

Over the course of their 43-year marriage, Mark and Christy lived in Indiana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Florida, Texas, and California. She loved discovering the beauty of each new place. She shared that love of nature with her children- who grew up climbing trees and exploring tide pools. Christy loved to read and instilled a love of books and reading in her children. Christy loved music and had a beautiful singing voice- often singing along with John Denver, James Taylor, and The Beatles. She also had an amazing laugh, and found humor in unlikely places. She adored animals, and shared her life with several treasured pets over the years. Her gentle spirit was loved by many.

Christy was preceded in death by her mother, Cecelia and her father, Tom; as well as her sisters Sharon Decker and Patricia Lawson. She is survived by her husband Mark Walton, her children- Melissa (Chris) Luebbe, Joshua (Courtney) Walton, and Sean Walton. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (David) Miller, her grandsons Henry and Gus Luebbe, as well as many beloved brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and close friends.

She will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery, in Greenwood, Indiana.
