Ladonna Jean (Boukes) Rea, 78, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on December 16th, 2020 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Ladonna was born on January 23rd, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Charles Albert Walter and Marie (Schuble) Walter Boukes, and her adoptive step-father, John Boukes.
Ladonna had a passion for dogs and operated a greyhound rescue with her husband. She would worked with people to get dogs into her care and Tom would drive out to pick them up. As a team, they had them vet treated and placed in homes after carefully screening applicants. Ladonna was extremely diligent about the placement of her dogs and would often do in-person interviews to confirm that they were going to safe and loving owners. In addition to her canine rescue, she taught as a student pilot instructor until retiring.
Ladonna was survived by her beloved husband, George Thomas “Tom” Rea of Bloomington, Indiana; her brother, Richard (Marialice) Boukes of Corona, California; her nephew, Tristan (Heidi) Boukes of Redondo Beach, California.
Ladonna was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie; her adoptive step-father, John; her sister, Arleen Walter Armstrong.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
