Lawrence Edward Whitehouse Jr. “Papa Larry” was born December 9, 1941 in Litchfield, IL. The son of Lawrence and Roselyn (nee Goodman) Whitehouse. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. In 1976 he united in marriage to Susan K. Smith in Peoria, IL. Together they became the proud parents of two daughters Shannon Whitehouse and Dawn (Mike) Duckworth of Indianapolis, IN, and one son, Jason Whitehouse of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Larry enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, reading books, listening to Elvis Presley, traveling, and buying hats at every opportunity that arose. As a charter member of the exclusive Sherman Commons Driveway Drinkers, he was adored by his neighbors who will fondly remember his affinity for quoting movie lines, breaking into song, and perhaps slinging a shot or two.
He viewed becoming a doting grandfather as one of his greatest accomplishments. He loved the intellectual mind of his eldest granddaughter, Taylor Duckworth (Chantz Ladigo) and was beaming with pride the day she entered college. He regularly attended the sporting events of his three youngest, talented and athletic, grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, and Jaylyn Duckworth.
On January 28 Papa Larry left this earth to begin a new journey with his beloved “Mama Sue” who left to prepare a place for him on December 10, 2007.
