Sherry C. Mays passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021. She starts her journey to the glorious gates of Heaven to be with her maker forevermore to receive her golden wings.
Sherry leaves behind 2 blessed children Charles Mays (Emily) & Crystal Mays, 3 grandchildren Austin (Autumn), Vivian (Keory), & Keith, 1 great-grandchild Athena.
Sherry’s family was her world. She was a single mother who was relentlessly determined to give her children and grandchildren the best life possible and instill in them the importance of believing in God. She was and is still truly a wonderful beautiful woman inside and out. She was full of surprises. She had eclectic tastes that included music which surprised her eldest grandson, Austin. Her granddaughter Vivian will always remember her as being a Disney princess at heart. Her youngest grandson, Keith, will always remember his “Meme” making the best of every situation.
Being a seamstress was one of her great passions; she could sew anything from racing suits to horse saddles, color guard costumes and anything in between. Many times, she was requested to fulfill special orders for famous people including NASCAR drivers and NBA cheerleaders. She also used to sew fairytale wedding dresses from scratch. She was a down to earth country girl. Christmas was her very favorite time, not for the presents, but because it was the Lord's birthday. The decorations and lights always made her smile; she would take us to see the Christmas lights every Christmas Eve. A tradition that will live on. She had a Christmas tree up year-round.
Now heaven will be so lucky and blessed to have such a beautiful soul and bright spirit among them. She will still be able to watch over her family as she has always done on earth. Now she will do it from the golden gates of Heaven; her legacy will live on in us always and forever. So, until we meet again in Heaven, you will never be forgotten.
